Trail Overview The trail begins at the Big Sandy Trailhead, situated at an elevation of approximately 9,100 feet (2,774 meters). After about 3 miles (4.8 kilometers), you'll reach Big Sandy Lake, a picturesque spot perfect for a short break or even an overnight camp.

Significant Landmarks and Wildlife Continuing from Big Sandy Lake, the trail becomes steeper as you ascend towards Hailey Pass.
