As you leave the urban environment, the trail transitions into the more secluded Puget Canyon. Here, you'll encounter a variety of native flora, including Douglas firs, western red cedars, and bigleaf maples. The canyon is also home to diverse wildlife such as black-tailed deer, red foxes, and numerous bird species like the American robin and the northern flicker.
About halfway through the trail, you'll come across a small wooden bridge that spans a seasonal creek. This is a great spot to take a break and enjoy the serene surroundings. The bridge is approximately 1 kilometer (0.62 miles) from the trailhead and marks a gentle incline that leads deeper into the canyon.
The trail features a steady elevation gain of around 100 meters (328 feet), with the most significant incline occurring in the latter half of the hike. The terrain is a mix of packed dirt and gravel, with some rocky sections that may require careful footing. Hiking boots with good traction are recommended.
