Trail Experience and Navigation The route meanders through a patchwork of serene pine forests, open heathland, and a mosaic of tranquil ponds—known locally as “vennen.” The Wassche Ven and Lelievijver are the highlights, their mirror-like waters fringed by reeds and water lilies, providing a haven for dragonflies and waterfowl. The Wandelpad Kikker (Frog Trail) is well-marked, but for added confidence, hikers can use HiiKER to follow the route and check for any seasonal updates or detours.

The forests are home to woodpeckers, nuthatches, and the occasional roe deer, while the wetlands attract herons, grebes, and frogs—especially in spring and early summer. The area is particularly known for its vibrant carpets of moss and heather, which burst into color in late summer.
