#### First Segment: Birkenfeld to Frauenburg Castle Starting from Birkenfeld, the initial segment of the trail is a gentle ascent through lush forests and meadows. After about 3 km (1.9 miles), you'll reach Frauenburg Castle. This medieval fortress, perched on a hill, offers panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. Take a moment to explore the ruins and imagine life in the Middle Ages.
#### Second Segment: Frauenburg Castle to Wildenburg Castle Continuing from Frauenburg, the trail becomes more challenging as you ascend towards Wildenburg Castle. This segment is approximately 5 km (3.1 miles) long and involves a steeper climb, gaining around 200 meters (656 feet) in elevation. Wildenburg Castle is well-preserved and offers another opportunity to delve into the region's history. The castle grounds are also a great spot for a picnic.
#### Third Segment: Wildenburg Castle to Birkenfeld The final segment of the loop takes you back to Birkenfeld, passing by the third castle, Burg Birkenfeld.
