For those using public transport, the nearest bus stop is in Coniston, from where you can take a short taxi ride to the trailhead.### Initial Ascent and Yew Tree Tarn The hike begins with a gentle ascent through a picturesque woodland area. As you make your way up, you'll soon reach Yew Tree Tarn, a serene and reflective body of water. This tarn is a great spot for a brief pause, offering stunning views and a chance to spot local wildlife such as ducks and herons. The tarn is also historically significant, having been artificially created in the 1930s to enhance the landscape.### Climbing Ivy Crag Continuing from Yew Tree Tarn, the trail becomes steeper as you approach Ivy Crag. This section is more challenging, but the effort is well worth it. Ivy Crag offers panoramic views of the surrounding fells and valleys. The crag itself is adorned with a variety of flora, including heather and bilberry bushes, which bloom beautifully in the summer months. Keep an eye out for red squirrels and various bird species that inhabit this area.### Holme Fell Summit From Ivy Crag, the trail leads you towards Holme Fell.
