For those using public transport, the nearest significant landmark is Kendal, from where you can take a local bus or taxi to Sadgill.Initial Ascent and Grey CragThe hike begins with a steady ascent from Sadgill, leading you through picturesque farmland and open moorland. As you climb, you'll encounter Grey Crag, the first significant peak on this loop. The ascent to Grey Crag is gradual but consistent, offering stunning views of the surrounding valleys and fells. Keep an eye out for local wildlife, including red deer and various bird species such as the peregrine falcon.Tarn Crag and Historical SignificanceContinuing from Grey Crag, the trail leads you towards Tarn Crag. This section involves a bit more climbing, but the effort is rewarded with panoramic views of the Lake District. Tarn Crag itself is a notable landmark, offering a serene spot to rest and take in the scenery. Historically, this area was used for sheep farming, and you may still see remnants of old stone walls and sheepfolds.Selside Pike and Scenic ViewsFrom Tarn Crag, the trail takes you to Selside Pike, the highest point on this loop.
