Starting near Lancashire, England, the Bowlands Knotts and Great Harlow Loop is a captivating 12 km (7.5 miles) loop trail with an elevation gain of approximately 300 meters (984 feet). This medium-difficulty trail offers a blend of natural beauty, historical landmarks, and diverse wildlife, making it a rewarding experience for hikers.
Continuing on, the trail leads you to Great Harlow, another notable high point. The ascent to Great Harlow is steeper, adding another 150 meters (492 feet) to your elevation gain over the next 4 km (2.5 miles). The summit provides stunning views of the Ribble Valley and the distant peaks of the Yorkshire Dales.
The final 5 km (3.1 miles) of the loop take you through more open fields and gentle descents, eventually leading back to the trailhead near Slaidburn. This section is relatively easy, allowing you to enjoy the serene landscape as you complete your hike.
