To reach the trailhead, you can drive or use public transport. If driving, set your GPS to the village of Upper Wootton, Hampshire. There is limited parking available near the village center. For those using public transport, the nearest train station is Basingstoke, which is about 8 miles (13 km) away. From Basingstoke, you can take a local bus or taxi to Upper Wootton.
The trail begins near the village center, where you will find a signpost marking the start of the Upper Wootton Loop. The initial section of the trail is relatively flat, winding through picturesque meadows and farmland. After about 1 km (0.6 miles), you will start to notice a gradual incline as you enter a wooded area.
The trail is well-marked with signposts at regular intervals. However, it is always a good idea to have a reliable navigation tool like HiiKER to ensure you stay on track. The terrain can be uneven in places, so sturdy hiking boots are recommended. During wet weather, some sections of the trail can become muddy and slippery, so take extra caution.
