From the station, it's a short walk to the start of the trail.### Trail Overview The trail begins in Hathersage, a village steeped in history and folklore. Hathersage is famously associated with Robin Hood and Little John, whose grave is said to be in the local churchyard. As you set off, you'll pass through charming streets before heading into the countryside.### Ladybower Reservoir Around 5 km (3 miles) into the hike, you'll reach the stunning Ladybower Reservoir. This man-made reservoir is part of the Upper Derwent Valley and was completed in 1945. It's known for its distinctive "plugholes," which are overflow outlets that create a dramatic visual effect when the water level is high.
