#### St. James's Park The trail begins in St. James's Park, one of London's oldest and most picturesque parks. As you start your hike, you'll be greeted by the serene St. James's Park Lake. The lake is home to a variety of waterfowl, including pelicans, which have been residents since the 17th century. Keep an eye out for the Blue Bridge, which offers stunning views of Buckingham Palace to the west and the London Eye to the east.
#### Buckingham Palace Approximately 1 km (0.6 miles) into your hike, you'll pass by Buckingham Palace, the official residence of the British monarch. This iconic landmark is a must-see, and if you're lucky, you might catch the Changing of the Guard ceremony, which usually takes place around 11:00 AM.
#### The Mall and Admiralty Arch Continuing along the trail, you'll walk down The Mall, a grand processional route leading to Admiralty Arch. This section is about 1.5 km (0.9 miles) from the start. The Mall is often used for ceremonial events and is lined with Union Jacks, making it a quintessentially British experience.
#### Horse Guards Parade and Whitehall As you proceed, you'll come to Horse Guards Parade, a large parade ground used for the annual Trooping the Colour ceremony. This area is steeped in history and is located about 2 km (1.2 miles) into the hike. Nearby, you'll find Whitehall, the center of the UK government. Look out for the Cenotaph, a war memorial commemorating British and Commonwealth military personnel who died in the two World Wars.
#### Whitehall Garden Around the 3 km (1.8 miles) mark, you'll enter Whitehall Garden, a tranquil space filled with beautifully maintained flower beds and statues. This is a great spot to take a break and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
