Continuing on, the trail becomes steeper, gaining another 200 meters (656 feet) in elevation over the next 2 km (1.2 miles). This section is more challenging, with several switchbacks and rocky terrain. Keep an eye out for the vibrant wildflowers that bloom in the spring and summer months, including lupines and Indian paintbrush.
