This out-and-back trail spans approximately 17 kilometers (10.5 miles) with an elevation gain of around 1300 meters (4265 feet), making it a moderately challenging hike suitable for those with a decent level of fitness.
At around the 7-kilometer (4.3-mile) mark, you'll reach a fork in the trail. Take the left path to head towards Silver Lake. This section is less traveled and offers a more rugged experience. The trail narrows and becomes rockier, so watch your footing. After another 2 kilometers (1.2 miles) and an additional 300 meters (984 feet) of elevation gain, you'll arrive at Silver Lake. This pristine alpine lake is a perfect spot for a break, offering stunning views and a chance to refill your water bottles. Remember to use a water filter.
