The Hayduke is a very challenging trail through some of the most visually stunning and unique landscapes in the world. The trail is extremely challenging due to difficult canyon descents and limited access to water. DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS TRAIL WITHOUT PROPER PREPARATION. The trail is a little more than 830 miles long, passing through Arches National Park, Canyonlands, Capitol Reef, Bryce Canyon, Grand Canyon, and finishing in Zion National Park. The main concern for a prospecting hiker to creating a resupply strategy.
The trail map should be considered a rough guideline as there is no clear path like you might expect on more popular trails (except on the Arizona Trail section). Make sure you print the print maps on the app before departing for the trail as understanding the topography of the area will help with navigation. Plan your water stops and have a contigency plan.
