Best hiked in spring and summer when the wild flowers are abundant, Holly Hut Hike is an out and back trail near Inglewood, Taranaki. It is 15.1 km and makes a great day hike or overnighter, although the 32 bunk serviced Holly Hut must be booked beforehand. The trail begins from the visitor centre and follows the southern part of the Veronica Loop Track initially, then becoming Holly Hut Track. Expect the trail to take between 3-4 hours to complete, although caution is advised on trail times as this depends on multiple variables. For more info, click here. With steep and challenging sections, sometimes narrow and with big drop offs, plus an unbridged river crossing, the trail is rated as difficult, for information on how we grade trails, please click here.
