Lough Ouler gets the nickname "Lovers lake" due to it's heart shape as it sits at the foot of Tonelagee mountain. This trail starts and ends at Glendassan waterfall car park (free parking) and is a looped trail that takes you to the summit of Tonelagee. From here, you will have amazing views of the lake and the surrounding Wicklow National park. The Wicklow gap is the name given to the col on the opposite side of the mountain, between Tonelagee and Turlough hill.
The trail can be quite boggy in sections, so sturdy boots are advised. There is no managed trail or waymarkers along the way. It is not recommended for small children or strollers and dogs are not permitted on the trail.
