An easy to moderate 14 km loop, the Scarr Mountain Trail sits at the centre of the Wicklow Mountain range near Glendalough, County Wicklow, Ireland, and requires some level of fitness to cover the total elevation gain of 1817 ft. The route has some road sections but is mostly on well-hiked trails, with some steep points to reach the mountain peak of Kanturt (1735 ft) and then Scarr (2,103 ft). It can be walked in either direction, although it is usually walked counter-clockwise.
The summit offers 360-degree views of the mountain range and over Lough Dan Lake. As with all mountainous walks, care should be taken in bad weather as warmer layers may be required for higher areas without tree cover and boots are recommended, especially during the wetter months. Within the Wicklow Mountains National Park dogs are allowed but must be kept on a leash.
