A difficult trail with a long section of road walking, the Lugnaquilla and Glenmalure Loop is a varied 27.8 km route with incredible scenic views and a good mix of woodland and mountain peaks. Found in the Wicklow Mountain range within the Drumgoff Forest, near Ballinacor, County Wicklow, Ireland, the loop takes in four mountain peaks, including the highest, Lugnaquilla (3205 ft) the highest Irish mountain outside of County Kerry and the highest point in County Wicklow. There are some steep ascents and descents and the terrain includes open pasture, gravel trail, bogland, boardwalks and rocky paths, with a total elevation gain of 3570. Camping can be found in the nearby village of Laragh, a 15-minute drive from the start of the trail where there is also a convenience store and cafes.
