The Mahon Valley to Mahon Falls is a 3-mile looped trail that starts and ends near Comeragh, County Waterford, Ireland. Considered difficult to hike due to the steep ascent, descent to the 262 ft waterfall, the walk has a total elevation gain of 1103 ft. The falls plummet over wild and craggy sandstone cliffs; a beautiful and picturesque but unmarked trail, it can become hazardous when wet; whilst the terrain varies from bog and marsh to steep rocky climbs and hillside that can become slippery in bad weather. It’s recommended to go anti-clockwise to avoid descending on loose, rocky terrain and dogs are allowed but must be kept on a leash. There are no amenities at the falls, so it’s advised to bring plenty of food and water. Photo Credit:Kevin Higgins
