Getting There To reach the trailhead, you can drive or use public transport. If driving, head towards Rydal, where you can find parking near Rydal Mount, the historic home of poet William Wordsworth. For those using public transport, the nearest train station is Windermere. From Windermere, you can take a bus to Rydal, which is well-connected by local bus services.

Trail Overview The trail begins near Rydal Mount and quickly ascends through lush woodlands and open fells. As you climb, you'll be treated to stunning views of the surrounding Lake District, including Rydal Water and Grasmere. The initial ascent is steep but manageable, leading you towards the first significant landmark, Nab Scar.

Nab Scar to Heron Pike After reaching Nab Scar, the trail continues to Heron Pike.
