#### River Dove and Wolfscote Dale At approximately 2 km (1.2 miles) into the hike, you will encounter the River Dove. The trail follows the river through Wolfscote Dale, a serene and picturesque valley. The limestone cliffs and clear waters make this section particularly scenic. Keep an eye out for dippers and kingfishers along the riverbanks.
#### Beresford Dale Continuing along the river, you will enter Beresford Dale around the 4 km (2.5 miles) mark. This area is rich in flora, with wildflowers such as bluebells and primroses in the spring. The dale is also home to various bird species, including the elusive peregrine falcon.
#### Wetton Mill Around 6 km (3.7 miles) into the hike, you will reach Wetton Mill, a historic site where you can take a short break. The mill, now a tea room, offers refreshments and a chance to rest. The area around Wetton Mill is also a good spot to explore the local geology, with several caves and rock formations nearby.
#### Wetton Hill After leaving Wetton Mill, the trail ascends towards Wetton Hill. This section involves a moderate climb, gaining approximately 100 meters (328 feet) in elevation over 1.5 km (0.9 miles). The effort is rewarded with panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. On a clear day, you can see as far as the Staffordshire Moorlands.
