This trail offers a moderate challenge, making it suitable for hikers with some experience.
#### Tyneham Village to Washing Ledge From the village, the trail heads south towards the coast. After about 2 kilometers (1.2 miles), you will reach the dramatic cliffs overlooking Washing Ledge. This section involves a gentle ascent, gaining approximately 100 meters (328 feet) in elevation. The views here are spectacular, offering panoramic vistas of the English Channel and the rugged coastline.
#### Coastal Path to Tyneham Gwyle Continuing along the coastal path, you will traverse a series of undulating hills and valleys. This part of the trail is rich in wildlife, with frequent sightings of seabirds such as gulls and cormorants. Keep an eye out for wildflowers, especially in the spring and summer months. After another 3 kilometers (1.9 miles), you will reach Tyneham Gwyle, a secluded cove that is perfect for a rest stop. The descent to the cove is steep, so take care on this section.
#### Return to Tyneham Village From Tyneham Gwyle, the trail loops back inland through rolling countryside and farmland. This section is relatively flat, with only minor elevation changes. You will pass through lush meadows and ancient woodlands, offering a peaceful contrast to the dramatic coastal scenery. After approximately 5 kilometers (3.1 miles), you will find yourself back at Tyneham Village.
