It lies within the Clarence Valley region, close to the town of Nymboida. The park is part of the larger Gondwana Rainforests, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site for its ecological significance. Nymboida National Park was established in 1999 to conserve its rich biodiversity and pristine ecosystems. The area holds cultural significance for the Gumbaynggirr people, the traditional owners of the land. Historically, it has been a site for timber production, but since its designation as a national park, its focus has shifted to conservation and recreation. Parking facilities in Nymboida National Park are limited, with a few areas such as Cod Hole and Jackadgery Flat providing space for vehicles. There are no fees for entering the park, but camping areas may charge fees, and visitors are asked to follow parking guidelines to protect the natural environment. The park is home to a variety of native wildlife, including eastern grey kangaroos, swamp wallabies, and the rare spotted-tail quoll. The Nymboida River is one of the park's highlights, where platypuses are occasionally seen. The park is also a birdwatcher's haven, with species such as wedge-tailed eagles, king parrots, and rainbow lorikeets regularly spotted. The flora in Nymboida National Park features subtropical and dry sclerophyll forests, with eucalyptus species like Sydney blue gum and tallowwood being common. The riverbank areas are lush with tree ferns, vines, and undergrowth, adding to the park’s verdant charm. Notable features include the scenic Nymboida River, which offers opportunities for white-water rafting, and the park's rugged terrain, with deep gorges and rocky escarpments. There is no public transport available to the park, so visitors must drive or arrange private transportation.
