Wonderfully located near Snug, this is one for the whole family; the Snug Falls Track is a 2 mi out-and-back trail that starts and ends from Snug Falls Road (where parking is available nearby), on the outskirts of the coastal town of Snug, Tasmania. Based on the total elevation gain of 406 ft this trail is graded as Difficult, however, it is generally considered a medium to easy walking trail and suitable for most ages and abilities. It consists of a long descent to the creek and then a steady climb back. During the wet season, the trail can become muddy so be prepared with the right footwear. The Snug Falls Track first takes you through native dry sclerophyll forest, where fallen trees, branches and rocks sometimes need to be navigated, and then along a picturesque moss and fern-lined gorge leading to the basin of Snug Falls. Look and listen to the birdlife as you make your way through the forest to the majestic falls. (Caution is advised on trail times as this depends on multiple variables. For more info, click here.) Here at the bottom of the falls, there are plenty of rocks and boulders to stop at, the perfect spot for a picnic and a rest for little legs before journeying back up through the forest to the start. Fun for all the family, including dogs, but they must be kept on a leash.
