Discover the popular Devils Nose Trail within the beautiful Para Wirra Recreation Park in the Adelaide Hills, South Australia. A 4 mi out-and-back trail that starts and ends at the trailhead car park off Para Wirra Drive and follows the Devil's Nose Track to the lookout. The scenic trail has a total elevation gain of 334 ft and is a favourite amongst outdoor lovers for trail-running, hiking and dog-walking, as the Medium graded track ascends the Devil’s Nose. Usually completed in 1 – 2 hours, the terrain is a combination of fire track and bush path with some rocky sections to reach the rocky outcrop of Devils Nose for far-reaching views across the park. Escape to nature in this beautiful park year-round; a family-friendly spot, it’s the perfect place for picnics, cycling adventures, camping, hiking and play, with lake-side picnic areas, a Nature Play Forest for children, hikes for all abilities and toilets with wheelchair access. And there’s plenty of wildlife, flora and fauna to see in the park too; more than 100 species of birds call the Para Wirra Recreation Park home so it’s not uncommon to spot emus wandering through the picnic areas, whilst kangaroos are also a common sighting at dawn and dusk. Open daily, park entry fees apply for vehicles and overnight stays ($12.50 AUD per vehicle, $24.00 AUD per night) and dogs are allowed in the park but they must be kept on a leash at all times.
