Within one of the world’s oldest national parks, discover the Bundeena Drive to Marley Walk, a challenging 5 mi out-and-back trail that starts and ends at Bundeena Drive, in the Royal National Park, New South Wales. Around an hour out of the city of Sydney, parking for this walking route can be found on the western side of Bundeena Drive. Graded as Medium difficulty, it’s a well-formed, well-marked undulating track but does offer some challenging sections with some steps. For information on how we grade trails, please click here. This wonderful trail leads hikers through a variety of landscapes; bushland, heathland, and of course, breathtaking beaches and cliffs, just a few of the beautiful natural sights the Royal National Park is famed for. With some challenging bushwalking sections, experience is recommended for maximum enjoyment, but the payoff is the natural beauty of the area. Take in the water pools, creeks, waterfalls, and the wild and wonderful Little Marley Beach, it’s crystal clear water and yellow sand beach lure hikers in for a quick dip and a cool-down on the hottest days. For those looking to extend their walk a little, a 30-minute walk along the coast will take you to the Wedding Cake Rock formation – a sandstone cliff that supposedly looks like a slice of cake – see it for yourself! Or keep walking, another 2.5 mi will take you along the coast to reach the village of Bundeena. A $12 AUD park entry fee applies per vehicle, per day and dogs are not allowed in NSW national parks and reserves for the protection and conservation of the park and its wildlife.
