The Outdoor Guide - Slindon Estate Walk - West Sussex

This short walk explores the National Trust’s Slindon Estate – an ancient landscape of woodland, download and farmland in the Sussex countryside. The Slindon Estate sprawls for 3500 acres, with 40km of rights-of-way crisscrossing its shady woodland lanes and rolling green fields that are home to an unspoilt village and seemingly endless paths, hedges and tracks. This walk around Nore Hill Folly from The George Inn at Eartham is perfect for warm days in spring, summer and autumn, with much of the route overhung by trees. The folly was created as a perfect picnic spot for the Countess of Newburgh, built in 1814. If you head out around April you might be able to witness the bluebells in the ancient woodland! The Slindon bunkhouse isn’t too far from this walk, where there’s space for individual walkers and groups to either camp or sleep in the bunk barn.Photo Credit :Simon Carey
