The trailhead is conveniently located near the Box Hill & Westhumble railway station, making it easily accessible by public transport. If you're driving, there are parking facilities available at the Box Hill National Trust car park.### Initial Ascent and Box Hill Viewpoint The trail begins with a gradual ascent through a wooded area, where you'll be surrounded by ancient yew trees and a variety of native flora. After about 1 km (0.6 miles), the path becomes steeper as you approach the Box Hill viewpoint. This section gains approximately 100 meters (328 feet) in elevation. The viewpoint offers panoramic views of the Surrey Hills and the River Mole, making it a perfect spot for a short rest and some photography.### The Whites Continuing from the viewpoint, the trail leads you to an area known as The Whites. This section is characterized by its chalky soil and open grasslands, which are home to a variety of wildflowers and butterflies, especially during the spring and summer months. The terrain here is relatively flat, providing a gentle respite after the initial climb. Keep an eye out for the rare Adonis Blue butterfly, which is often spotted in this area.### Westhumble and Historical Significance As you proceed, the trail descends towards the village of Westhumble.
