#### Petersfield to Shoulder of Mutton Hill The initial section of the trail takes you through mixed woodlands and open fields. After about 2 km (1.2 miles), you'll reach the base of Shoulder of Mutton Hill. This is one of the steeper sections, with an elevation gain of around 100 meters (328 feet) over a short distance. The climb is well worth the effort, as the summit offers panoramic views of the South Downs and the surrounding countryside.
#### Ashford Hangers Woodlands Continuing from Shoulder of Mutton Hill, the trail meanders through the heart of Ashford Hangers. This area is a haven for wildlife, including deer, badgers, and a variety of bird species. #### Return to Petersfield The final leg of the loop brings you back towards Petersfield, descending gently through more open countryside and farmland.
