Starting near San Diego County, California, the Crown Point and Mission Bay Park Loop is a scenic 25 km (15.5 miles) loop trail with an elevation gain of approximately 100 meters (328 feet). This trail offers a moderate challenge, making it suitable for hikers with some experience.
- De Anza Cove to Fiesta Island (5-10 km / 3-6 miles): Continuing south, the trail leads you to Fiesta Island, a large, sandy island in the middle of Mission Bay. This area is popular for dog walking and offers panoramic views of the bay. The terrain here is slightly more rugged but still manageable.
- Fiesta Island to SeaWorld (10-15 km / 6-9 miles): As you loop around Fiesta Island, you'll head towards SeaWorld. While you won't enter the park, you can catch glimpses of the attractions and possibly hear the sounds of the animals. This section is relatively flat and offers plenty of shade.
- SeaWorld to Mission Bay Park (15-20 km / 9-12 miles): The trail then takes you along the western shore of Mission Bay, passing by several smaller parks and beaches. This is a great area to spot local wildlife, including rabbits and various bird species.
- Mission Bay Park to Crown Point Park (20-25 km / 12-15.5 miles): The final stretch brings you back to Crown Point Park. This section is mostly paved and offers beautiful sunset views if you're hiking later in the day.
