Woomargama National Park is located in New South Wales, Australia, near the state's southern border with Victoria. The park lies approximately 30 kilometers northeast of the town of Albury and is also close to the smaller towns of Holbrook and Woomargama. It covers an area of 240 square kilometers, making it a significant conservation area in the Riverina region. The park was officially established in 2001 as part of efforts to protect the region's unique biodiversity and preserve its natural environment. Historically, the area had been used for grazing and forestry, but conservation efforts have helped restore its ecosystems. Parking is available at various entry points, including the Tin Mines Trail and Tunnel Road entrances. Though specific parking lots are limited, visitors can park in designated areas along trails or at entry points. There are no parking fees, but visitors should follow any signage and restrictions to protect the environment. Woomargama National Park is rich in wildlife, including eastern grey kangaroos, wallabies, echidnas, and koalas. Birdlife is abundant, with species like the wedge-tailed eagle, superb parrot, and regent honeyeater, an endangered species, calling the park home. The flora of Woomargama includes diverse eucalyptus forests, with species such as red stringybark, white box, and Blakely’s red gum dominating the landscape. The park also contains native grasslands and pockets of dry rainforest in sheltered areas. Notable features within the park include the rocky peaks of the Black Range, the Tin Mines, and various lookouts offering panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. Public transport options are limited, and the best way to reach the park is by driving from nearby towns such as Albury or Holbrook, where tour operators may offer guided trips.
