Freycinet National Park is located on Tasmania’s east coast in Australia, within the state of Tasmania. It is approximately 125 kilometers northeast of Hobart, the state's capital. The closest towns are Coles Bay, just outside the park, and Bicheno, about 30 kilometers to the north. Established in 1916, Freycinet National Park is one of Tasmania’s oldest protected areas. The park is known for its stunning coastal landscapes, granite peaks, and secluded bays. Significant historical events include its establishment to protect the unique ecosystems of the region, along with the preservation of Aboriginal cultural heritage sites. Parking within Freycinet National Park is available at various locations, including the main visitor center near Coles Bay and dedicated car parks at popular spots such as Wineglass Bay and Honeymoon Bay. There are several parking areas, but spaces can be limited during peak seasons. A park entry fee is required, with different rates for vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists. Freycinet is home to a variety of wildlife, including Bennett’s wallabies, eastern quolls, and Tasmanian pademelons. Notable landmarks within the park include the towering pink granite peaks of the Hazards mountain range, the pristine Wineglass Bay, and the scenic Cape Tourville lighthouse. While public transport directly to the park is limited, visitors can travel by bus from Hobart to Coles Bay, with shuttle services available to popular spots within the park.
