Nangar National Park is located in the Central West region of New South Wales, Australia, approximately 70 kilometers west of Orange and 30 kilometers east of Forbes. The park encompasses rugged bushland and rolling hills, offering visitors a peaceful retreat in a scenic natural setting. The park was established in 1983, with the goal of protecting the region’s native ecosystems and preserving its cultural heritage. It was once part of large pastoral runs, but over time, the area was recognized for its ecological importance, particularly for its native wildlife and vegetation. Parking facilities are available at the park’s key entry points, including the Terarra Creek campground and Dripping Rock. Parking is free, and there are no entrance fees, but visitors are asked to adhere to the park's guidelines, including using designated areas for picnics and camping to minimize environmental impact. Nangar National Park is home to a variety of wildlife. Eastern grey kangaroos, wallaroos, and echidnas are commonly seen, while bird enthusiasts can spot species like the wedge-tailed eagle, peregrine falcon, and glossy black cockatoo. The park also provides habitat for several reptiles and amphibians. The park’s flora is diverse, featuring dry sclerophyll forests dominated by eucalyptus species such as white box, red gum, and ironbark. In spring, the area is brightened by colorful wildflowers, including native orchids and wattles. The park’s vegetation supports a rich biodiversity, especially in its creek valleys and hilltops. One of Nangar’s most notable features is Mount Nangar, which rises to 778 meters and offers panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. The park is also home to several walking trails, including the Summit Walk, which takes visitors through eucalyptus forests to scenic lookouts. Public transport to Nangar National Park is limited, and access is primarily by private vehicle. Nearby towns such as Eugowra and Orange offer basic services and accommodation.
